way too much about me, my thoughts, and what i see everyday |
Ok, so I was watching the "Rise and Rise of Pink" on VH1 just now and someone said the following about her: "If she hadn't found music, I think she might be in jail right now." Now people say this as if it is supposed to be some kind of compliment to celebs (I think we've all heard it too many times about too many famous people), but I just seem to be missing the point here. First of all, it seems to only apply to people who went on to become famous. This makes me think that if we went to prisons and asked them what their other options in life were besides murder, rape, and drugs they would reply "well, I was considering becoming a pop-star but I thought the hours sucked." Or maybe "I was going to apply to the Actors Studio, but I decided to just rob that bank instead." Ever met an accountant who told you that he would probably be in jail now if it wasn't for his talent to save people money while charging them money? I haven't. Is it supposed to impress me that this person chose fame and fortune over crime? Just a thought...well...almost a thought...more of a ramble...
